Risk Management: focuses on predicting and mitigating potential risks to protect a company’s value. It is a proactive and strategic function aimed at safeguarding business objectives.

o   Proactive Approach Identifies, assesses, and mitigates risks before they impact operations.

o   Strategic Decision-Making - develops quantitative and qualitative risk matrices to measure and prioritize risks, guiding risk acceptance, transfer, mitigation, or avoidance decisions.

o   Predictive Nature - Utilizing data analysis and forecasting to anticipate potential threats before they materialize.

o   Value Creation - Transform risks into opportunities by strategically managing uncertainty and deepening understanding of operational elements.

 

Compliance: is fundamental to preserving a company’s ability to maintain its operating license, ensuring transparency and fair practices while fostering reliability within regulated industries.

o   Regulatory Adherence - Ensures the organization follows laws, regulations and industry standards, minimizing unnecessary regulatory infractions.

o   Prescriptive Nature- Focuses on meeting predefined requirements rather than predicting future risks or managing current crises.

o   Risk Avoidance – Primarily aims to prevent legal penalties, reputational damage, and operational disruptions.  

o   Siloed Execution - Often managed by dedicated compliance teams focused on meeting external mandates and internal controls without fully understanding the operational processes resulting in a misalignment of operational priorities.
